Mikel contract extended to 2017

John Obi Mikel certainly longer at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea midfielder was officially agreed on a new contract that will keep him up to five years.

Since joining in the summer of 2006, the Nigeria international midfielder is a player pillar in the Blues midfield.

Until now, Mikel has made 261 appearances for Chelsea and scored two goals. He has also won four FA Cups, one Premier League titles, one League Cup and one Champions League.

Mikel, 25 years old, ready to improve their performance and want to help Chelsea win more trophies in the future.

"Chelsea are like my own sekrang since I've been here for over six years and I've enjoyed my time here," Mikel said on the club's official website.

"Basically I've won everything with Chelsea and the years it was very special to me, won the trophy with big names such as Didier Drogba, John Terry and Frank Lampard, who had a career in Chelsea a very long time."

"Last season the Champions League was more special., And I hope in the next five years will bring more success again and I can win a lot of trophies with the new players out there."

"By the age of 25 I think I'm now in peak performance but as a player you want to increase every day and still have room for it. I want to learn from the other players and the manager and I want to continue."
